An Abstinence Only Sex Education Parable

To avoid being too offensive I am posting on another blog. I would say NSFW, unless you have good porn-shui. Not explicit, but perhaps in poor taste.

Isn't it about time for...

Between the election, the war, the coming wars, and the financial bailout, isn't about time for a celebrity sex scandal or murder to take our minds off things? Come on washed-up '90s actors and/or atheletes! Take one for the team! Can we find Eddie Murphy another transvestite or something?

It is soooo depressing :-(

YAY fo the high road

My non-sexist liberal attack on...

OK. Quick semi-accurate history story. This promises to be a highly biased and perhaps poorly thought out argument... Warning protocols engaged.

Stalin began running the Soviet Union into the ground. Poor judgement and a grip on the idea that he alone was right are the seeds of Soviet collapse. Stalin dies and pick as his successor a party soldier. A true believer. Frankly, a bit of a hick. That hick was Nikita Krushchev.

Now, I like Krushchev. When I took a grad-level Soviet History course, the instructor painted him as a bit of a loveable buffon, as long as you ignore the "we will bury you" outburst. Krushchev did actually believe in the Soviet Union, he believed in the Revolution, and he loved his country. The problem is, this is never enough.

Lets say our nightmares come true. McCain is elected and becomes the doppelgänger of Bush, dies in office and leaves behind one of the most unqualified members of the Republican party. The main difference between Krushchev and Palin is that Krushchev at least believed he was doing what was right for his country. Bush style republicans believe in doing things for themselves.

Like them or not, Gulliani and Romney were at least qualified. Huckabee too. I guess that like Stalin, McCain does not want to be followed by anyone who could show him up...

Maybe I shouldn't post before my second cup of coffee?

Biden Kicks Ass!

OK, I am posting a link, but will comment...

I am not overly into politics. I am a yellow dog democrat. I wanted Hillary Clinton to get the nomination, but hey. I am in Obama's corner now, and frankly like the guy a lot now that he gets to beat up on McCain rather than Hillary.

Now... The link below is to an All Things Considered report on Biden. Again, I am not that into politics... I knew Joe Biden exists, but not much beyond that. Then, I heard the snipets from the Michigan speech in the report. Biden is tough. Where has this guy been? Wasn't he trying to be president when Gary Hart was still a viable candidate?!? He seems to me to have the energy and drive of a Howard Dean or even Dennis Kucinich (I like Dennis, maybe I give him too much credit?).

Biden seems like the perfect match for Obama. He's an old school democrat who has been around the block a bit, and his energy will be a great asset. I hope he can help win back some of the lost Hillary supporters. I hope he can help get the Dems in the Whitehouse... I hope I don't have to emigrate to New Zealand (they are looking for IT people :-).

GObama.

Jozy Altiodore (a 20 year old american striker) just played his first game with his new club Villarreal (the reigning second place team from the spanish la liga which is the best league in the world tied with the EPL) this is huge for the US as he is looking like he just might be the best american soccer player of all time and maybe one of the best up and coming youngsters in the world... think didier drogba with better foot skills. enjoy the highlight reel =) or try to

so far this 'blog' is just a bunch of links to stuff.

but not much 'blogging' is going on.

do we need to do more writing? or is it enough to just have links to click on?
...after all, clicking on links is so easy - even lukey can do it.

Warning, items are less liberal than they appear :-)

I was listening to a local NPR show, The State of Things (WUNC, Chapel Hill). The guest was N.C. State Political Scientist Steven Greene (associate professor). He claimed that female candidates appear more liberal than they really are. He said Hillary Clinton had a problem with appearing too liberal, then said Sarah Palin appears as more liberal than she is, to which I said aloud in the car....

"Christ! Then she must be a f**king monster!"

Junkie Jesus

I'm at a loss. I saw this picture and I immediately thought Jesus was stealing a sweet hit of heroin from this junkie. Then I realized I got this from a serious source so I thought maybe it was actually implying that every time you shoot up, you are doing the same to Jesus. Which now that I think about it explains a lot.

PSA - Racism In Elevators

Darius Whiteplume

...has good taste in things geeky, as far as I can tell so far. It looks like they hail from North Carolina? Check out his blog, it's tasty. I visited another blog that he reads/frequents/lurks at - something called DM magazine or something (damn memory. need more coffee). it's nice, but possibly too risque for work here. shoot though, frank frazzletta sure can draw/paint some beautiful buxom wenches. but what else do we know about Whiteplume? very little. The rest is conjecture. Here's what I am guessing:

Darius Whiteplume, 78 year old, long-nosed individual. roughly 6'2". Originally from Boston. Father an investment banker and mother a Drow, they met at his high school prom and briefly courted although it did not last long. His mother's family did not approve of her little half-breed (they might have approved more if he had worked as a lawyer instead but...), and were to sacrifice the poor babe - little DarDar they called him - to Lolth, although at the last minute he was saved by a disgruntled Drider named Steven, who brought him back state-side to reside with his father. Dar-ling (as his evil playmates at St. Mary's called him) did not ever quite feel like he fit in, hated his little shoes and socks that were part of his school uniform (not to mention his wedgie-giving trousers), and instead of attending school at Yale, stole his father's money and invested it in a realm on the western coast in Faerun. Unfortunately, the result was similar to Goodkind's 'Magic Kingdom For Sale - Sold' and the 'magic kingdom' was quite run-down. He did however serve as an apprentice for 14 years to a certain (ahem) "well known" wizard, and while stateside collecting ingredients for spells and potions, realized that he fit a niche for a much needed go-between, communicating between his two worlds. He now owns a small store, which serves as bookshop/cafe during the day, and a magic emporium/dark ritual site by night. He also dabbles in horticulture, clockmaking, and duck calling. He is quite addicted to the internet, finds it fascinating that someone would 'pretend' to be for his world instead of simply going to visit, and can drink anyone under the table.

...am i close?

Terror rides again!

Once there was a little ghost goblin guy who was very lonely and also very hungry. He said to his ghost goblin mother "mother - I am very lonely and also very hungry." His mother said, "if you are very lonely and also very hungry, why don't you go and make a friend and then eat them? the gnomes are very good for this type of thing." The little ghost goblin said "because that's what I did last time. I enjoyed making a new friend, but when I ate him, he wasn't my friend anymore. Also, because of my incorporeality, all of the contents of my stomach fall out onto the floor. So I am still hungry very soon after eating my (now late) friend." His mother said "he IS still your friend, it's just that now he is a memory. He is your dead friend, your friend on the floor. And your friend in your heart." The little ghost goblin felt much better after speaking with his mother about this, and went to stand in the little pile of friend that was on the floor. The End.

Shalaylaholla should do a movie about that, and it'd probably be way better than Woman in the Lake and certainly bester than Deadly Breeze.

I think if I was to look inside of Lukey's brain I would see something like a cross between a card catalogue and the floor of his bedroom. He should attach all important items to himself with string. Annimation is not a word, and I don't think that the person who added it as a label meant to spell it incorrectly. I have noticed that several words hear and their our spelled wrong on this blog. Perhaps this is intentional after all, and will soon become a HoM 'thing.' sort of like Barf and Tug. I think although even Luke can do this blog, maybe he is doing something else at the other time instead.

This post hasn't nothing to not do with the absence of anything, and nothing more than that. Which is why I am writing. So I'll write a little more. A little more.

mōnks of HōM

...sounds a bit like a robin hood-esque group from the middle ages, but more interested in butts and beads and smeg and cheese of course.

anyways, i think that since we're throwing out ideas for icons/mascots, etc. i think we should seriously be thinking about a good epic theme song/battle cry, a honorable pledge, a poem or two, and a flag. we seriously need to get working on this stuff. ...or maybe i seriously need to get back to work...

...wasn't i supposed to be at a meeting about now or something...?

EXTRA! EXTRA! trash or content!

WILL there be anything of substance and/or quality posted on this blog? Or will it remain a sup-par comedy site? Experts speculate that the outlook is grim, as the only posters thus far on the blog have nothing of consequence to say. "[HōM] rearranging..."

some of you will notice i've been doing a lot of "HōM] rearranging..." hopefully for the better. we now have an awesome "TAG/LABEL cloud" which is why i want people to label their posts. we also have a winner in the Who's Your Monster contest by way of mathematical impossibility of the others winner so i'm going to work our new mascot into the design somewhere. we also have a new slash animation at the title bar that i am told reminds people of what the imagine the inside of my brain looks like. SO... what are you thoughts, please do share?

uh-oh

i think luke died.

i haven't heard from him in a while (like, almost a whole day), and he doesn't respond to emails, OR answer his phone. so something MUST be wrong, because that is just waaay too unusual.

of all the great ways i think luke died, i think the most probable is that he was walking across the street and bent over because he saw a plastic bag on the cement that he remembered he had put his keys in the night before. He left the bag on the curb, where he had been sitting and opening his mail the night before - which included a pair of new vampire fangs from dentaldistortions.com. He needed new fangs because the one on the left broke a few weeks ago when he had a few too many glasses of wine and bit down hard on a crosswalk button on the corner of the ave and 45th - on his way home from a ballerina party where he had met a wonderful woman named Shaquandaleelah (who is wonderful except her shelf butt - but luke has actually come to the conclusion that this might be a GOOD thing for a woman, because he can use it to hold his coffee mugs) and they had gone out to eat and he actually managed to eat MORE than her, finishing off her extra large bowl of pho. anyways, when he bent down to recover his keys from this plastic bag, so that he could go inside and check if his animetorrentporn had finished downloading, he was hit by a car and dragged all the way to dicks, where he finally died. ...they probably could have saved him because all he needed was a bite to eat, but he said "no thanks, I don't eat DEAD flesh..."

like barfentunnigwall opened up his head and then his brain barfed all over me.

this page looks like a messy room.
theres too much crap all over the place and i can't make sense of it... it's like getting a sneak peek into chris' adhd head. and its a little scary.
i know someone is going to say "well then change it, monk"
to which i will say "you told me that if i participate i wouldn't have to do anything."

hey, i like on david's blog how he has a list of 'recent comments' on the side. lets do that here.
(and yes, by 'let's' i really mean 'you')

Tickle Me Shimbers.

I saw that movie that Luke recommended, "The Last Winter," and I didn't love it. Interesting concept - it was a man vs. nature theme (which is rare in movies, i think) and was a heck of a lot better than the new Might Shalalayalaholla movie "Dangerous Breeze." There were some interesting/cool parts, but I was generally a little bored. ...And I didn't want to SEE the bad things in any sort of form - it was cooler when it was in my head. Can't anyone do any awesome Hitchcock movies anymore, where you play with the viewer's imagination?! the shit that I imagine is always more scary than what they show, and not knowing is more scary than knowing.

so, anyone got any GOOD suggestions for horror movies (to rent)? ...I can't find [rec] on netflix, dammit.

barfentugginwall running away with it!!!

I voted for him... you most likely voted for him... looks like we are going to have a clear winner for the [Hom] mascot/logo.

so what do you think, are you happy about this... is it going to be hard for david to out do him?  let us know hahahaha

help! ...rss, igoogle, writing on these internets things.

hey, help me someone.

i'm using igoogle to track blogs and news sites and stuff, and it works great - whenever a new post comes up on a blog or on my email or on boingboing or something, i see it on my igoogle. ...but i can't view everyone's RESPONSES to the posts. is there a way? that'd be tite yo. da bomb diggitty.

Who's Your Monster???

alright guys... i've got some logo ideas i've been working on as place holder until david whips something better up. for now though who do you like and what should his name be? maybe it will help david out a little ={ grrrr

What is the purpose of a blog?

I don't really see what the purpose of a blog is (for us) really, how is/could this be any more differenter than just really long emails? ...at least on email everything is there together in one cute little package, and i don't have to click on a bunch of other stuff. i see the point of david having a blog though, because he uses it to communicate with a lot of different people (like family), and because he's ass far away, so he can chronicle his adventures for us, and eventually illustrate them and publish them for millions and millions (yes, i am expecting part of the profit from that, as it was my genius idea). Or for people like some political guy or human rights activist in india or some famous person, like scooby doo or bambi... someone argue with me.

Let's see some ridiculously cute baby pics, yo!

Hey this is hella bomb, yo. Let's see some posty posty action! Long live HOM!

The GROUP BLOG experiment

hey guys... so here is the deal. david wants us ALL to blog and we all know that will never happen, thought this could work though. we are all authors of this "group blog" i set up and the idea is that it will basically become our own little forum or whatever you want to call it for our group of friends. so invite everyone and change things up if you have a great idea =) lets let it work it's self out organically.
